Yes it is a CO2 car, but I believe it was used to ship "dry ice"
(solid CO2) rather than liquified as is mostly done nowadays. Not
only private operators but also some railroads (Santa Fe) owned

Liquid Carbonic Acid, CO2, is used to put the fizz in sodas. The LC Company started apparently in 1913 in Kansas City, and not only sold CO2 but made a popular soda fountain using the commercial size

A guess would be Liquid Carbonic, and the second builder's photo on the page clearly shows a build date of 1935. I think LC was shipped in cylinders, but someone else may have more accurate
