Westerfield CB&Q XM-17/18 class truss rod boxcars
Ted Culotta's Steam Era Freight Cars binder has a picture of one of these boxcars on un-numbered page 4 and it has 4 trussrods that point back to the ends of the car.
The Westerfield instructions

It sounds to me as if at least 3 out of 4 of these cars were 6300 series cars. I spent some time in my 1943 ORER last night and interestingly had a tough time matching numbers in

Sometimes progress is agonizingly slow, sometimes happens at warp speed.
I found a reference library that had the 1931 Car Builders Cyclopedia, they copied the pic in question, and I have it in hand

Bruce, Richard, and others;
My photo of 6307 is from the Carroll Schmidt collection. The photo is an action view coupled in train. All boards in the "White" banner are clearly visible as are shadows

Re: NC&StL Box Car Lettering
If you've ever used Sunshine's PFE decals, the lettering is terrible.
Fortunately when it comes to PFE there are LOTS of choices, and thanks
to Dick Harley there will be even more choices coming down

Frank,
I've measured the decals and the "n" in "Dixieland" is 9". I'll have to dig out the other kit to measure the brushstroke lettering.
