If you look at the pics on the info sheet for MK10 mini-kit on Jim Hayes' excellent "unofficial" Sunshine site, you'll see one with and one without and a date (1949 IIRC) when they started using

How about the 71000 - 71998 series? These 500 PS cars also seem to have had a mix of Apex and Gypsum running boards. The subsequent ACF cars had one or the other.

Re: 40 ft gons Was PRR X-29's, NYC Lot 486 and then?
yep, I remember y'all had them when I got my B&O boxcar at Naperville,
That's why I said quickly off the top of my head. I missed the Ertl car too.

No, but Red Caboose did (sku #870003). They tooled them after
re-cutting the old Front Range 40 foot cars. Also you may still be
able to find Detail Assoc #6241.

Anyone have a date for when the C&NW began using simplified yellow

Ed is correct. The trucks are largely hidden by weeds in the photo I
have, so I incorrectly identified them as ASF-A3, but on closer
examination they are Barbers.

the information on their website, it just says body details. I have a bunch

Re: CNW Modified 1937 AAR boxcars
Brian,
Trucks on the 800 cars were spring-plankless Barber S-2 Stabilized. The
first 300 cars had Apex running boards & brake steps, the last 500 had
U.S. Gypsum.
All cars had Ajax hand brakes.

Brian, I have an in-service shot of 82928 which shows ASF A-3s, Apex
running boards, "Route of the 400 Fleet" stenciling, if that's any help.
