I use Scalecoat's stripper, it will pretty much remove anything off plastic. After using I pour it back into the bottle for future use.

Ray and Friends,
Whether brake fluid works as a paint stripper depends on the paint and the plastic. I used to do this a lot years ago, and it worked well for me with Athearn and Roundhouse paints,

I would use caution for some, very few, it will attack. I used it on branchline Athearn, and Proto ith no problems.

Looking at the first digit, it can only be a 3 to fit into the T&NO numbering system in 1948. There were no numbers 57xxx, and these were in a number series of steel box

Considering the number of actual panels used in rail cars (not so many as could be made in one tool) I guess there were only a few (or maybe one) die.

I've always assumed that there panels were stamped in the same dies as USRA box car ends, gon ends etc. Maybe they had different ends, sides, thicknesses of metal etc.
