Re: Iwata Airbrushes on Scottymason.com
I have no problems spraying Polly Scale with my 'H' brush. It's easier with a larger tip. The 'H' brush has three available tip sizes (H-1, H-3, and H-5), but is typically sold with the smallest

Re: Branchline Blueprint 40 ft postwar AAR boxcar
Larry,
P&LE 5000-5999, Lot 774-B, built by Despatch Shops 3-49 can accurately
be modeled with the BT kits. However, I don't believe that BT produced
any P&LE kits.

Ed Hawkins

I am considering an article for a historical society publication related to researching and building a freight car model related to their specific railroad.
My "criteria" (personal) also narrowed

Re: Iwata Airbrushes on Scottymason.com
I have been using Polly Scale in my H for a few years. I use distilled water from the drugstore as my thinner. I thin by eye. I spray at 25 to 30 psi and use a water trap. I take the airbrush apart

Re: Iwata Airbrushes on Scottymason.com
Clark, the issue is that these water based paints need a larger orifice than solvent based paints. My first airbrush was a Binks-Wren that I bought as a teenager to paint 1/72nd & 1/48th scale

Re: Iwata Airbrushes on Scottymason.com
I've used Iwata demonstrators at Trainfest and the NTS. The double action is quite a machine.
I still use my 'H'. I had a friend who could paint multi-color paint schemes with acrylics using his H.

Re: Iwata Airbrushes on Scottymason.com
So can we conclude that the Iwata "buzz" is merely about another sound and satisfactory addition to our arsenal of airbrushes, rather than anything of a revolutionary nature?

Listers comment-

Yes. I too still rely upon my Model H given to me as a Christmas
present c. 1954. I have yet to be struck by any need, or an "I want",
to change. It is a still-available

The kit represents an original or earlier rebuilding than what I have in mind which has the Frisco coonskin outline around the Quanah

Jerry,
The Quanah Route book by Don L. Hofsommer has some information and Mr. Hofsommer may have photos he did not use in his book (mostly a history text).
The San Juan Car Co. has photos of QAP box

Ooops,
They were repainted and marked "CHESAPEAKE & OHIO" over "A800" etc at the Saginaw shops and marked "SAG 7-48" just before the For Progress mono took affect. There is a Bob's Photo image

Ted Culotta did an 'Essential Freight Cars' on that kit and wasn't too
impressed either with the model or with it's decals - he printed his own. (RMC
March 2005).
