Re: PRSL Hoppers
My bad. I should have remembered that on the PRSL, the 200 series was cabooses. The hopper I saw must have been numbered in the 100-series (work equipment).

Re: Thomas (was Bachmann Announcements at the NMRA 2010 Train Show)
Tim,
My success rate was low, too. Of 3 sons and 1 daughter, only 1 son is a model railroader. The jury is still out on a couple of grandsons.

Tim,
Maybe I'm just too much of an optimist. While I tend to agree with your assessment of the photographs, they still aren't the actual models. I'll wait to make up my mind. A couple of months

I saw one back in 1959 and have been kicking myself ever since for not taking a picture of it. It was at the wye in South Woodbury and yes, was MofW gray, with the PRSL letters arranged diagonally,

I've haven't seen any galaxies either except in photographs, but
I can still make out a few details can't I? The photos in Bachmann's
PDF satisified all my curiousity about their freight

There are models of Thomas, even though he only has one paint scheme? I would have thought they wouldn't do it unless he got a new image repaint, was sold off to several shortlines and transit

I tried Thomas on my daughters; they loved Thomas. Plus HO scale trains; they
both thought that was cool. Plus real train trips across the country; those were
a blast. All to no avail. Trains

All,
I know it is a long shot. Does anyone have any photos of PRSL hoppers? They
appear to be GLc, GLca or GLcb mostly likely in M O W gray. They lurked in

That is great to hear. I've been talking to Joe Fugate and newly-appointed NMRA VP Bill Kaufman during this past week at the Milwaukee NMRA convention about getting the data base to the NMRA. Joe

Here in the UK we find it rather odd that US children would be so attracted
as there is no way that Thomas could be associated with US railroads.
As much as I detest Thomas at railway events,

Funny thing is, Bachmann is capable of making rolling stock models with good detail. Here's an example from their UK "Branchline"

The answer is that it depends on the series of cars. Cars painted black
assigned to SHPX 25478-25480, built 9-50, had lettering applied to flat

Thanks. That helps me pick out a couple cars to build.
