I use the Hi-Tech hoses exclusively. Depending on the prototype, I use #6038 with the PSC casting, or #6040. I like brass bracket for rigidity. I have never used #6039.

Clark, freight cars of any type - not just reefers but box cars,
hoppers, etc. - which were originally equipped with vertical staff
brakes often kept their original hand brakes through the period

The vertical staff or Plate A hand brake was "grandfathered" in so, if it was original to a car built before so-called 'power' hand brakes were required, it could remain on the car throughout the life

Beings, I believe, the CV NP roofs are available separately in multi packs at a reasonable price. I believe this is the way to go. Screw one up, there's more, and you're not out much.
