new HO scale USRA hopper
Definitely a USRA hopper (just what we need more of, right?). From my internet search it must be MTH. Only saw one for a moment but my those grab irons are incredible!

Yes, but interestingly enough, even the brass ones will snap if grabbed hard enough. It is just a natural thing to pick the model up there. I now brace the brass step back with a small piece of wire

The Kadee bracket grab irons have 4 square tapered pins. Drill 4 slightly
smaller holes than the pins and press the Kadee part in. It is a snug fit
no glue necessary. I have never had one fall out.

Kadee will sell you the 18" bracket grabs used on their PS-1 boxcars, if you email them a request. They require 4 holes, but are very nice.
