Roofs got covered with soot in large yards while being re-iced anyway. Mechanical refrig, diesels, and "aluminized paint" reflective roofs came later.

Maybe several reasons. Light colors reflect heat, though I don't know if this had any real effect on cars with all that thick insulation. Most roofs remained in dark colors anyway. Possibly a

That's really a simple kitbash of a Branchline 7' door body with a USRA style underframe. It was the subject of the first Cocoa Beach "Shake and Take" clinic using an Accururail body. I'd rather see

I'm no ATSF expert, but the -52, -67, -71 were built by
General American. The -75 was built by ATSF. (From kits?)
The -65 was built by ACF. RMJ 8/1991 has photos of one.
