Re: Why so little discussion on coal car models?
Richard, photos don't PROVE anything except what is
depicted. You can't logically infer anything from the
LACK of a photo, except the fact that there isn't one.
I have seen Southern, CofG, PRR

Re: Prototype for new resin kits
Richard,
Went back to find the date of the photo; you are quite
correct, it was taken in 1961. I will now duck for cover.

Ben,
Nice to hear from you. Keep your head down and stay safe.
Many thanks for your service to the Country. Anyone who knows,
paperwork is worse than filling out after action

Re: Why so little discussion on coal car models?
Tony,
You must be visiting the wrong layouts. My PRR collection has 1 off road car for every 3 PRR hoppers.
Plus extra units of B&O, W&LE, and N&W for the steel mills in the Ohio

My highest priority is a Magor Type F 30 yard Automatic Air Dump Car. A lot of roads owned them and they lasted from the 1920's into the 60's. Or are these MOW cars beyond the scope of this group?

Speaking of hopper cars: GN 73700-73764
OMI made models of both the regular Canton GN hoppers and the ones that were modified with a steeper slope sheet (73700-73764). I am wondering if anyone knows what GN used the modified cars

Up until the mid thirties the Rutland actually sent hoppers off line to the mines. One car was wrecked in the middle west.I have not been able to document actually where they went.I suspect that

NP and GN both originated coal at Duluth/Superior. So that is
another possible source.

I think the incidence of off-line coal hoppers on the C&O and
N&W increased the further away you got from the coal mining
areas. Certainly I have seen photos of C&O and N&W yards with
an ocean of home

than ordinary freight cars. On a box car, the paint often faded and
decayed but the lettering remained bright. To model this you have
