I strongly and emphatically disagree. There are quite a few
models available now that I would call "high end" merchandise.
The Great Unwashed are not buying these models!
Example: 5-unit well

Re: Coal for home heating?
Al Kresse:
We had a stoker on our coal furnace. Our house was completed in the summer of 1942 so the furnace dated from that time. IIRC the stoker was mounted on the side of and open to the coal bin.

If you believe their coal marketing literature, the C&O coal going up to Philly, NYC, Boston, and further into New England typically went by boat and/or barge intercoastal-wise. Washington/Baltimore

Nobody has mentioned "stokers" for their furnaces. The 1935 "Stoker Coal, C&O Lines" booklet I was referencing showed home furnaces with a box on the side of of the furnace that automatically feed

Well, the first Arab-Israeli war and the Berlin Airlift come immediately to mind.
The US's main involvment was with the latter and I don't think it was really a war in the traditional sense of that

Sounds like class GR or GRA - composite gons. You can tell the difference as the GRA was slightly longer and the middle panel on the side was longer than the other panels while the GR had

All,
Please forgive my tardy reply. I was away for several days and came home to find I was more than 300 messages behind on this and another list. I started wading through them yesterday morning.

I heated my home in northern Vermont in the '80s with hand-bombed anthracite. Very hot, and also relatively clean; and when banked, the fire could last for up to 48 hrs. without touching. Good
