Re: Helium Cars
Rich,
I photographed a few of these helium cars passing through my town on the Norfolk Southern a few years ago. What prototype info do you have that you can share?
Best regards,
Charlie

New IM war Emergency cars
Can anyone tell me if the ATSF cars were repainted in the "Ship and Travel"
scheme post war. I have only seen builders photos so I am not sure.

For a 3-D trust plate, I don't think it needs to be truly legible.
Size is the most important factor to me -- I know the dimensions
of some trust plates, but we (STMFC) would have to collaborate

Like I said, you just have to make a reasonable case. As an armor modeler, looking at some of his releases leads me to believe the "reasonable bar" is rather low . . .
A simple thing like trust

Re: Helium Cars
I don't know if it has been mentioned, but the capacity of the prototype is 200,000 lbs! Most cars were built with special heavier duty trucks, both friction bearing and in the sixties roller bearing.

Intermountain WWII War Emergency cars
The question has come up about why IM doesn't do the same level of quality work they have done in
the somewhat more distant past. That is at least in part due to the same staff not working at IM

Westerfield ACF Photo CD Electronic Index
Hi List Members,
A while back, I purchased one of Al Westerfield's excellent ACF Photo CDs.
The good part of this CD is that it has hundreds of lovely ACF builders photos.

Re: Boxcar construction details, C&EI 65000-65499
Hi Ed,
I think the reference to International Steel on the equipment diagrams
is regarding the Utility doors on CEI 65200-65299. I found a message in
the STMFC archives (#27787) addressing this.

Tim,
You've got to "lighten up" man! Obviously, you fill them with HELIUM
<VBG>. Seriously though, you would use TUBING not SOLID ROD... That
would result in a nicely weighted car.
