About 1966 if memory serves me right. Same time as roof walks were gone on new cars. However high brake wheels lasted a long time after 1966.

Mark - While the wheels extend quite far on the model, the prototype has a 5' wheelbase rather than 5'6". Unfortunately, no matching trucks are available (arch bar for D&IR/D&MN and Andrews for SOO).

KDE brake systems
The C&O/N&W/Virginian 6-wheel trucked gondola cars built circa 1920 +/-
were either initially or upgraded to KDE 16-12 loaded, 4-10-12 empty
