I found a reference to a Sunset Oil Co. having an oil field or lease
in Texas in 1939 on a web site which lists the oil field
maps/documents on file at the Texas State Archives. Below

To clarify, these car had a "shorter" or "lower" inside height. The
cars were not as "tall" as the USRA SS boxcar.

Homgas is correct lettering and paint. as are the locations. Pictures have appeared on this list with these cars behind steam on the Rutland, IIRC. Can't help with the lard cars.
