Athearn should be congratulated for being forthright with the modelers. Other manufacturers should take note and follow Athearn's lead.

the models are not prototypically correct. That was the news, as far
as I was concerned. I don't think they've ever done that before.

Nope, Peoria and Eastern did not go to Streator.
That was NYC (West) to a connection with the CB&Q
at Zearing IL. That line was built by the Chicago

Re: Helium Car
Tim,
I'm not either. It should be around MP 188 to MP 189
between Cameron and Ormonde. BNSF does show outdated
station locations on it's track charts but not that one.
Strange.

NWX and BREX had small fleets of 50' cars that were vaguely similar;
the others, AFAIK, are totally bogus. But at least Athearn is being
honest about the models' unprototypicality.

Russ is correct; I was thinking Streator but wrote Peoria, perhaps
because in the steam era the NYC subsidiary the Santa Fe interchanged
with at Streator was the Peoria & Eastern.

Re: L&N rebuilt box car
I have five; if interested, contact me off-list.
Murphy rectangular panel steel.
Not that I'm aware of, but it shouldn't be hard to parts-bash them from
existing 7-8 corrugated ends.
