Did any typical 40 ft. box cars with rectangular panel roofs have seam
caps with rivets or bolts?
I was surprised to see that a 50 ft. GATX box car pictured in the most
recent RP CYC had riveted seam

I forgot to mention that Danbury also has one of the NYC 255-F cars,
and it is indeed nearly identical to the Rutland 2762. The NYC car
is one of two idler flats coupled up to a double-end wreck

Larry,
One of the Rutland flats survives at Steamtown in Scranton, PA. It is nicely restored, and features (IIRC) a large piece of stone as for a load.
