Yes the Wizard of OZ was in black and white until she got to OZ. Then it changed to color. That was because it was filmed in Kansas during the depression and we were so poor that we could not afford

Let's not forget that colorization is far from a new thing. I've got postcards from around the turn of the century (the 19th into the 20th) that are colorized ("tinted") versions of black and white

My Uncle was a photographer and had a studio in Salina Ks. I used to sit and watch as he retouch negatives. Take a pimple off this ladies face or Wipe out some wild hair on this guys head and so on.

For some reason – I'm not sure why – Stan seems to be looking for an
argument here. Obviously it was possible to apply AB brakes to a Van
Dyke tank car, as is evidenced by the photo he cites.
