Re: can anyone recommend a rail brown paint that I can brush onto the rail?
Try Vallejo Model Air 71.139 US Field Drab
Keep in mind that if the rail is oily the paint will not stick.

can anyone recommend a rail brown paint that I can brush onto the rail?
Hi List Members,
About a year back, I wanted to brush paint a short section of track (ties and rail both) on my layout a rail brown color. So I puchased one bottle each of Tru-Color TCP-822 FLAT

Guy, thanks for that information. I seem to recall reading about that somewhere but I couldn't remember when it went into effect.

I asked about it many times, but never saw any actual evidence. I gave up asking after the Sunshine hybrid kit became available…

Todd,
I would guess that they are referring to the AAR's Mechanical Division dropping the 1" bars

That is not a "roof section" it's a fixture used to assemble the roof from the panels spread on the floor.

Re: MP 1942 Boxcars 10-6 32500-33299 Photo Help
Thanks Tim.
Ed Hawkins pointed out I was wrong the NSC and sunshine kits are different series. The prototype cars were MP 34113-34262, StLB&M 17501-17600, and I-GN 17751-17825.
I’ll use your photo
Thanks Tim.

I vaguely recall seeing test shots from Dick, but maybe my memories are all mashed together... :-D
At least I'm pretty sure he -talked- about it.

Nope. I don't know of a parts source for the URECO spoked hand brake wheels other
than the old Detail Associates set.

Re: PFE R-40-23 sidesill reinforcements
Richard
It was not a universal change, but here is the best example I have seen. Also, if it was
done in the 1950's, I have not seen any photos that show it.
