another I found useful in my re-work of an Atlas PS-2 Covered hopper,
drill the holes into the ladder stile not at the corner but to the
opposite side and leave the one on the corner trimmed short

I believe the ACF covered hopper mini-kits are still available.
There were some on sale at Naperville last year. Also still for
sale are AAR alternate-standard 2 bay offset mini-kits for C&O,
NKP, NP

Seam caps are those lateral metal stampings that cover
the joint between roof panels -- as seen for example on
most box car roofs.

Or even if they ARE supposed to be stand-off drop grabs, I snip out the horizontal molded "shelf" and glue .010 styrene or wire between the remaining standoffs... see my PM car

I essentially said not everyone wants to work for no
compensation, and no one should expect that pattern
makers owe the hobby their free labor. And the 100
hours is a hypothetical situation.
