Hi Eldon;
John Nehrich had an article on detailing the Roco heavy duty DOD flat
to carry (appropriately) a pair of tanks.
Richard Hendricksen published an article on detailing the Athearn 40

The ECW car represents a 36', 90 ton Commonwealth casting that was sold to a number of railroads, but definitely not the PRR. Owners of this car included the NYC and B&A), New Haven,

Doesn't Eastern Car Works make a depressed center flat? IIRC, it is
good for the PRR. I think there was an article in MR a while back.
I can't seem to find their web site to see the details, but

Folks;
I think Charlie et al. are correct, both were military prototypes, as I
recall from when I was doing more research on flat cars and modeling. I
believe the HD flat they made was a Magor-built

very few tankcars larger than 12,000 gallons were built . . . before
1963, 6,500g, 8,000g, 10,000g, and 11,500g tanks were the most common

I don't have the two cars to compare, but I suspect the Bachmann car is a

Jerry,
Roco also sold one about 20 years ago, and they show up at train meets. Keep an eye out for the red box w/ blue & white lettering. The details are very reasonable, however, IIRC,

What kind of compressor do you guys use? Do you end up needing any other
hardware other than the compressor, gun and booth? I've seen some with tanks
and all sorts of other "stuff", but I wasn't sure
