Rule 3 should refer to General Service Boxcars, and Flats, and not all
freight cars, particularly hoppers or tank cars - Gon in between Boxcars

I think that lateral may be an Alan Wood, but my guess here on the rest
may be that this was a repaired walk; thus, the use of non-standard
materials.

Except that each segment is the distance between roof ribs; definitely
non-standard, at least in my experience. Wood roofwalks are usually made up
of muck longer planks, spanning several ribs.
