Re: Update on new releases?
RC had a huge backorder list for these models, as they were offered as
convention kit cars for the SP Historical Society convention last year, so
that's probably where the first production run went.

Ted, Ray and friends:
Ray's notes on Amelings's photos jogged my memory. I'm pretty sure the
car I saw was 8099, and I shot it at Noblesville in 1978 while on the

That would have either been the 8099 or 8166. 8099 is currently at
Noblesville, but who knows what happened to 8166. Howard Ameling has shots
of 8166 wandering through the rust belt in the 1970s

There is a pretty large file at the Colo RR Museum on the UP stock car
rebuild from box cars that took place at Denver shops. Will check it out to
see what there is on paint colors.

Tim and Garrett:
I photographed one of these cars in Indiana about 1978 on the NKP/N&W parked by a grain elevator. I think it was later preserved at a railroad museum, and may have been in transit

Re: Ebay NKP war emergency box car
Garrett, there were still 175 (of 200) in service in 1963. I find
no listing for them in 1965. Wabash also had some War Emergency box
cars, but I don't know if they made it to N&W either.
