Perhaps a reasonable rule of thumb is that foreign hoppers
(and gondolas) of coal were common on roads that did not
originate much coal. Coal was used in large quantities by
many industries, not just

You're right, Red Caboose markets them as simply
"Barber" trucks without specifying which type. The BLT
trucks are true S-2's. My mistake.

England.B&O,Pennsy,NYC,D&H,Berwind were fairly common.Occasionally one might

I can't tell you from personal experience about the WW2 period, but in later
years the Pennsy had an active interchange of N&W hoppers in the area around
Wheeling and Mingo Junction on the

Assuming you meant H2, if you're modeling in HO you'll need to use the ECW kit rather than the Broadway Car. The BLI car is an H2A and is too late for our era. Dry transfers from Greg Komar

The N&W H-2a cars in the WWII era would have had the 17 inch high N&W.
I don't believe these cars would have routinely been loaded off line as there was an AAR directive that hoppers of N&W,
