Any chance you can post photos or drawings to our shared directory of these cars? A four-wheel caboose with a bay window has to be almost unique, and certainly worthy of study.

single sheathed box cars - the old fashioned way
Another way to get "different" single sheathed box cars would be to
build them in a similar fashion to the Qualitycraft single sheathed
auto box cars (MKT & Milw) or Ambroid predicessor.

I do not believe the LEF&C caboose 8 was ex- P&S. Comparison shows that the P&
S cabooses all had Andrews trucks and radial handrails with a tight radius
and a straight upper end, whereas the LEF&C
