origins, though.

Sounds like you got a bad one. I've got a couple Branchline cars here and
even the smallest lettering is complete and crystal clear.

Re: B&O M26
Can you scan it? I have a hunch that it might be the steel rebuild of
the C&O/HV ds auto boxes of 1924-5, best known as the blue-over-yellow
LCL boxes of the late 1950s.

Re: NYO&W freight cars in interchange?
The USRA cars came along fairly late, and in rather small numbers. In
looking through various ORERs, it seems the only steel hoppers NYO&W
bought new were 18001-18900, 19000-19399, and 19400-19699,

I hope that's not the extent of the evidence, as 2,448 cf is what you
get for a car measuring 8-ft tall by 8'6" wide by 36-ft long. Cars as
diverse as the Pennsy XL, NYC's 1906 truss-rod design, and

Chris, while you're here... I have a Precision Scale "M26"
model -- which, uh, has what looks like rebuilt sides with
open frame/posts visible along an inset sill. Did PSC screw
up or was there some
