I've seen a 1960's photo of a larger type X, UTLX 6121, still in

Just how late did these cars run on North American rails? This circa-1959 image
seems to imply that these cars ran very close to the end of STMFC's mandate--

Fascinating. Gary told me on the phone that the instructions were 35 to 40 pages, but this is 13 pages. Not sure what this means.

Bob--

This is Very Helpful!!

Just what I was looking for. There are only so many possibilities as to how an AB brake set can be mounted in the end of a hopper car. This confirms what I've inferred as to component placement. Besides, I have an H21 to work on, too.

Thanks a lot--I hope that I can return the favour some time.

Steve Lucas.

Mike - I may have mentioned this before but in The Hazards of Helen may be recorded the first stunt double. In one extant episode a runaway box car filled with dynamite puts people in trouble. It's a almost new SP B-50-1/2/4. But when it explodes it's a much older car. - Al Westerfield

Subject: [STMFC] Hazards of Helen film

There is a movie short series named the Hazards of Helen...filmed in
1915-16...that might interest some. Series #9 is named Leap from the Water
Tank. #9 was filmed on Santa Fe trackage including Cajon Pass and,
amazingly, the star of the film is a Santa Fe 2-10-10-2. I would speculate
that this is the only movie film of a Santa Fe 2-10-10-2. In addition there
are many shots of frt cars. I found it at Amazon.com.

Incidentally, I can readily see why running boards were
called...well...running boards. There are quite a few scenes of RR workers
[ actors no doubt ] running [ note, not walking ] on the tops of frt cars. I
will also note that the film is almost a hundred yrs old...and it looks it.

I have been told that someone showed films some yrs ago of Virginian
2-10-10-2's. I have never seen this referenced by anyone. If anyone knows of
such film, I would appreciate knowing it. These locomotives did operate
during the early 50's...as I recall...and I would be surprised if no one
shot movies of them.

And yes, I did try to contact Gary Wright at Wright Trak but emails are not

Thank you, Jim.

I havent started it yet. I am going to get the Rail Shop kit as it looks pretty nice. I am a little nervous that it appears to use kadee #78's so hopefully it can be made to use #58's or something else.

Thanks again,
Scott

I'm sure the red Swift paint scheme will sell well but are there any plans to eventually do an earlier (yellow) Swift car?
