Thanks for the response - it's never too late.
Re: BOX SCALE, Urban Legend, etc - let's keep in mind that Uncle Irv got underbody equipment completely reversed in the molded part. I'm game to believe just about anything as to why the covered gon is less than 52'. I figure there's a 50:50 chance that Irv's response to the first modeler to point out the car is short was; "It is?!?!?"

I'm not sure how common the Bethlehem Steel Company version of the prototype was. The Athearn version will be my stand-in model until a correct commercial car is available or I clear a mess of projects off my plate to at least build some correct length sides.
