I wish that I was going to Cocoa Beach, for today on my bike ride I was finding myself searching for shade. Upper 70's is too hot when exercising.

Ned Carey <nedspam@...>
If anyone is flying from the DC/Baltimore area I will be glad to drive your models down. I'll be leaving sometime Tuesday.
I will be bringing a nice sceniced display stand. Sadly none of the models I intended to finish will be done before I leave, so I might have some extra display space. Contact me off list if you want me to transport your models. Ned Carey

Just saw this pic on rrpicturearchives. This was not uncommon. DL&W was a leader in using covered hoppers for cement service. They installed steeper slope sheets, because of the angle of repose of cement, and added a roof. Later they had purpose-built cars, but in the beginning they used modified coal hoppers. The car comes from the NP 207400-207427 series used in company sand service
as lettered on the car. They were originally NP 70000-70048 series hoppers built in 1922 and rebuilt for sand service in 1957 and 1959. This from NP diagram sheets posted at www.nprha.org Another question regarding these cars: Were they purchased new or used by the NP? Thanks for any replys, Matt Herson From: STMFC@... What made this interesting transaction even more interesting was that the original arch bar trucks were replaced by the WP with yet another set of archbar trucks fitted with ROLLER BEARINGs that had been removed from one of their own previously retired cranes!
This crane underwent it last heavy servicing in the early 1980's. It remains serviceable and operable in East Ely, NV today. Denny
