RDG 12343 / Reading 12870
So Reading has a variety of cocao cars... 22870 has different roof hatches and different hopper doors than 12343. 12343 does appear to be repurposed drop-bottom box car, with the regular hopper doors

Yes, B&LE hoppers. This is the SSCC builder's photo of 1914.

Re: 100-ton Andrews trucks in HO
Dave and Richard,
The familiar US Navy Helium tank cars rode on 100-ton trucks. The earliest versions were Andrews. There's a decent photo in the FSA/OWI collection at loc.gov.

Re: FW: [RealSTMFC] Jim Kinkaid's Freight Car Photos Collection
In the ERIE sequence there are quite a few cars that were built in the early times (20s or so) and in the 30s and 40s, even into the 50s. The collection covers a long range.

Well, this IS a double sheathed car, and I would surmise that if you removed the exterior sheathing, you’d see the bolts holding the framing for the slope sheets there in the interior sheathing . .

Whose hopper cars were these?
B&LE is the likely candidate, though Carnegie Steel also had cars of this design.

You mean the ACL and AT&SF don't count?
There is a treasure trove of photos in there of the "A" roads. Not hard to find.

Re: [Non-DoD Source] Re: [RealSTMFC] Whose hopper cars were these?
Guys;
I have asked my B&LE/Union RR/EJ&E/other steel roads friends, who model earlier than I do, and will report back.
The defect card holder is a clue…..
