You are totally correct Andy. In my almost 40 yrs on the SP/UP I never recall hearing the term “turnout” used for a track “switch.” Switch was the term for ALL operating crafts, M of W and

NEVER had a problem with it - "Dap Kwik Seal" - requires 24hours to cure
hard. I always use plenty - definitely not for "exterior
