New Build, PRR Westerfield X26 with welded 6' car builder door
Cool build!
This sparks my curiosity.............. could someone take 2 pairs of Red Caboose X29 company doors and make this work on a USRA SS box car? I have 100s of those Creco-similar X29

New Build, PRR Westerfield X26 with welded 6' car builder door
Here is a newly built Westerfield PRR X26 SS 40' boxcar with a welded 6' car builder door. Some X26 boxcars had these interesting doors, made by welding together two original 4' auxiliary doors.

Re: Accurail kit 4498
Thank you Dennis for a full explanation of the origins.
At some time in the last 29 years I acquired one lettered for SP. Still unbuilt but I was impressed by the tight but still discernible siding

Todd and Friends,
If you have a Mac you will find that the machine compresses the thumbnail title. The information is still there, but represented by ellipses. You can, of course, read it by right

Re: Can you identify this for me?
I solved the mystery. It's a Sunshine SLFS kit. I still can't find the box but at least I've identified the body.

Re: Accurail kit 4498
These kits are now 29 years old, being released in 1991, IIRC. They were originally released as the 4000 series (wood ends and doors) 4200 series (7/8 steel ends and wood doors) and the 4400 series

Re: Lots of Freightcars [was] Westerfield NB box car
Umm, the Santa Fe boxcar in the background has the "Ship and Travel" slogan, and I think that started in 1947 or so, and Garth said the L&N PS-1 boxcar two cars to the right from the Santa Fe car was

That's why photos shouldn't be separated from their credits. It's a May 1943 view of the Milwaukee Road's Bensenville Yard (Chicago) part of a series taken by Jack Delano. I don't have time to find

Re: Can you identify this for me?
Ben, it's not NP. I know there stockcars pretty well. The NP cars have a radial roof, part of a circle, This one has a flattened curve roof, It's HO.
Thanks for trying though.

Re: Can you identify this for me?
I ‘think’ it may be a Northern Pacific car(radial roof-like the NP boxcars. I think Chooch might have had one on the 1980’s. Someone else had one. I’ll try to remember who. Bill Smith
