Ron, they were reclassified as BI-50-1. "BC" in UP-speak means a

UP BC-50-1 ex B-50-45
Does anyone know when UP's first class of insulated boxcars, built as
B-50-45, were reclassed to BC-50-1? These were 499000-499099, built
1955. There are decent views in the UP Color

Re: PRR Cabin Car Paint Resolved
Thanks, Ben. I hadn't quite realized that almost until the end of the steam era, the color scheme was so straightforward (probably too many later color views of black and yellow cupolas confused me).

Tyler, why is ash-hauling "contaminated service?" These gons were used while in normal service to
haul coal, rocks, scrap, all sorts of less-than-clean lading, so why is ashes so much worse
