So you're stating that Richard made it up? Of all his character traits, that is about the last thing I would imagine. He sometimes dramatized events, but I can't recall any imaginary ones.

Folks discussed those Overland cars years ago on STMFC and elsewhere. The conclusion
has always been that Marsh just "made up" those two particular

I can't read the lettering on the domes, but I think it probably gives the gallon capacity of the tank and (separately) the dome in 2 lines of text.
