Re-trucked Bx11/Bx12
The picture looks a lot like the surviving Santa Fe car an Inyokern, CA, just minutes away from the last two earthquakes of merit in California last week. One side is in surviving paint, the other

Re: Re-trucked Bx11/Bx12
The emblem you called a Civil Defense emblem is the emblem used to identify cars assigned to zinc concentrate service.
In 1959 there were 185 BX-11 cars live in the series 41200 - 41399

#41298 has Dalman Two-Level but appear to be missing the outer springs on each side on each truck I think. Not sure about the other.

Re: Photo: Santa Fe Gondola
There is a 3/4 view of a similar gondola, but there seems to be no way to determine what class. The side construction appears to be similar.

Interesting find, Tim.
Looks like it would have been about 5 miles away from MEC's Calais branch. I agree there doesn't seem to be a closer rail connection. Odd that there seems to be some track

BAR ice reefers graveyard
Someone pointed out a scrap yard in Meddybemps, Maine (yes, that's the name) that
has over a dozen BAR ice reefers rusting away... in full BAR lettering. If you switch
to the "street view" in Google

It is interesting to note that they converted from vacuum to air brakes “under pressure” ;-)

Photo of the C&O type is in the 1932 Boxcar book. Look for the "B" end photo of the ERIE car. I modeled using 1.5 Grams of watch parts ordered through eBay. Plenty of actual gears to choose from.
