Re: Photo: Santa Fe Gondola
I wonder if those folio drawings are the ones I sold to Stephen Priest? There were
about a thousand pages of freight car drawings. It looks like he's put them up online,
which is great!

Elgin Boxcar Green/Orange paint when started?
Does anyone know when Elgin railroad started painting boxcars green with orange lettering/ around chicago logo?
(RPC text says 1946 but caption says circa 1950, so i'm confused)
thanks

WHIF or FHIF Decals
I bought a Sunshine sliding plug door reefer at an estate sale, and the kit had no decals in the box. I’d like to build it as a FHIX or WHIX car with electrical fan if I can locate decals. Does

I am sorry to repeat my question, but I will try to phrase it better.
Ten to fifteen years ago, I purchased some Standard Steel Car builder's photos from Keith Retterer. I have a nicely printed

I cannot tell which is which. I think the second picture with the rusty car above is as built.

If you zoom in on the photo, they're just chalk scrawlings that have been poorly wiped off.

Re: [Non-DoD Source] Re: [RealSTMFC] Re-trucked Bx11/Bx12
Garth;
Thanks for that fabulous photo!
It has it all: The sideframe caster (ASF), Design (Dalman), ARA truck type/group, owning railroad, and even a journal lid manufacturer...wow!

Ghost images from pre WWl.
Interesting, appears that a partially repainted effort to convert to a new lesse. Also, cool end doors. Any guesses as to what road's markings were covered over?

Friends,
Note that the Dalman Andrews truck has two different styles of journal box covers, one clearly marked "National".

You are correct Tim that the Santa Fe had an Andrew's truck unlike any Andrews. There was an article in the Santa Fe Warbonnet many years ago on converting the Kadee Andrew's to the Santa Fe

This is a Bx-12 truck - it has a wide front opening but doesn't look like any
Dalman I've ever seen. A Dalman BOLSTER face is very distinctive (also attached),
and the outer springs have a tiny shelf

Re: Re-trucked Bx11/Bx12
The emblem you called a Civil Defense emblem is the emblem used to identify cars assigned to zinc concentrate service.
In 1959 there were 185 BX-11 cars live in the series 41200 - 41399
