Unit Truck Corporation appears over a very limited time period between late forties and early fifties with their claim to fame apparently being a truck with integral brake equipment.
Many, many businesses and corporation I have researched come up with virtually nothing on the net. Here is what’s out there:
Again, my history researching businesses is that many are brief, and quietly go out of business or are absorbed by other companies at some point with little notice.

Just looked at Google Maps street view .......Garth, it is gone, gone, gone. One of the open fields.
I will find an older map of Duluth /Superior and upload the image or put in into the files. Non railroad story here: My late brother and I used to tent camp up on the north shore of Lake Superior at times into December. More than once we stopped by C Reiss in Superior on the way north and gathered some of the briquettes that had escaped the property line cyclone fence meant to contain them along the public road. Once a fire was started we would toss several into the campfire. The heat was truly intense, and often very welcome. I have to agree with Dennis though as when the briquettes were tossed in and just starting, the smoke of the fire had a definite petroleum stink. On the hand - after a vaccine and travel can be done freely and safely again, if you ever get to Minneapolis, try this place https://blacksheeppizza.com/ coal fired pizza, not cheap but for all the (here comes the railroad content) stories of locomotive coal shovel chefs you've read about, this place uses Bituminous coal to cook with. Jerry, that image of NYC 751478 is interesting. The car may have had a steel floor installed to replace the wood floor installed previously. The reinforcement angle on the top of the car side may be a clue.
But the car has retained a vertical brake staff through the years. I had thought the AAR mandated geared handbrake wheels for cars rebuilt after 1937.

As the new RCW kit for these cars are now being shipped, I was wondering if anyone had additional photos of the cars. The RCW site has three builder's photos of the cars when they were in the 324000 series. There is also one photo of the car (#751478) after the drop doors were removed from the cars during World War II in a refurbishing effort. The cars so modified were place into the 751000 series and these are the cars the kit covers.

Hello- Intermountain's new policy this year to refuse selling parts has just cemented my reasons for limiting my parts selling. I have a few remaining items which I am going to offer to folks of this list. I have a few IMRC 4/4 Improved Dreadnaught Ends of the slightly narrower top rib and no poling pockets. Many of us would recognize this end as being for a 10'6" Inside height car. Debuting in 1944, this has a recess on the top rib for the power brake housing on the 'B' end. I also have for 10'6" IH cars 8-rung ladders, also from Intermountain. These were tooled for their Canadian version of the 10'6" modified AAR box car. Each set has 4 of the 8-rung ladders, two with the corner sill steps integral with the ladders. Also included are 8 bracket grabs. The tooling used for the production of these ladders were still fresh and no flash is present. The parts for the power brake details show no flash, which is good for Intermountain, as many times their Ajax brake wheels have flash partially and often fully filling in the holes in the hubs. This set of parts include 2 corner sill steps each of 45 degree bent style and square corner style. 4 route placards for doors, Ajax power housing with chain and rod, Ajax brake wheel, brake release rod and valve. Prices are: $4.50 for the 4/4 IDE per pair $4.50 for the 8-rung ladders $1.00 for the power brake detail set Shipping is $4 flat rate for one or dozens. I do not have a list of parts. The continued lack of a H-20-44 is inexplicable. But, we do have access to Ted’s kit, the beautiful IM alt std hopper, and the ability to kit-bash an early PS-1 and Sunshine Beth gon and 46’ gon or Accurail car, plus the Stewart channel-side hoppers. The missing ones are the NKP lease cars, the early gons and rebuilds, the AAR hoppers, and some others. Better than the picture for B&O, for example.

Thanks, Garth! I do have that article, and talked with Greg several times over a number of years, on P&WV freight cars.
I am preparing a PowerPoint covering their fleet, and am surprised at how little they are discussed.
I have built a Beth 52’ gon with container load, plus an early PS-1, using Jack Consoli’s excellent decals, plus a Sunshine 46’ gon, all of which I love, but the remainder I need are slow-going. Not a lot of info out there.

Andy, Out of curiosity, I went to Google maps and looked for the C. Reiss plant. No such luck, though the building may still exist. A street address would help. However, a closed C. Reiss "coal field" shows across the St. Louis River in West Duluth near the intersection of Waseca Industrial Road and Leisure Street. This location is also listed for C. Reiss Coal Co. as a firewood dealer, but either way this area appears to have been cleared for redevelopment. C. Reiss still has a coal loading operation in Green Bay. Google Maps also delivers two listings for C. Reiss Coal Co. in various other cities that are marked "attorney", which sounds very odd to me. Sometimes I just want to throw up my hands and scream when trying to find something specific on Google Maps. Yours Aye, Garth Groff 🦆

The same look and feel . . . except of course that it’s 385 pages. A very hefty volume indeed. The photos include variations over time of paint schemes and also some exotica , such as the C&O waffle-end version. A very worthwhile addition to our libraries.
BTW, the “peanuts” that Ron’s Books uses are biodegradable.
