I'm sorry to hear of Greg's passing. He gave a lot back to the modeling community, especially through the Cocoa Beach clinics.

Re: Greg Martin
Greg Martin and I got off to a rocky start 25 years ago. He and I had a misunderstanding about an email list, of all things. He even wrote a letter to my employer and asked to have me fired. Fortunately, I didn't get fired. And later, the misunderstanding was cleared up. It turns out I was young, opinionated, and ignorant (but good enough at my job) and Greg was very passionate as well as a skilled modeler and contributor to the hobby. We never became close friends, but we did come to respect one another. For my part, I learned I was young and stupid. And for his part, he learned that I was young and stupid, but I could overcome it.
Just like the saying, as I grew older, my Dad grew smarter; I also found out as I grew older that Greg grew in stature. It turns out he was not just passionate and fiery, he was a well informed hobbyist and a great modeler who contributed more than I ever will. I'm glad that in the last 20 years, even though we did not always agree, we came to be comfortable with each other and exchange tips and modeling information. He truly was an important and respected model railroader, and I'm glad I didn't just shut him out and turn away. I always believe that there is more to the story than my side and if I take some time and make some effort, there is usually more to agree about with someone than any disagreement we may have. And that was true with Greg. I'm a better modeler and a better person because of Greg Martin. We're all a little poorer for his passing. I wish the best for his family. May he rest in peace. Hi List Members,
There is a nice scene showing a bulk oil dealership in 1924. Very model-genic.
Oh yes, there is also a steam era freight car for us to enjoy as well – tank car PARX 848

So sorry to hear that. I never met Greg personally, but had communicated with him many times within our mutual groups. He was one of the first to get me interested in the Shake-N-Take group. He was always there to answer any questions I had. He supplied me with the necessary castings to augment my projects. As a matter of fact I am working on one of the 2009 projects as we speak, the UP S-40-10 stock car which he graciously provided me with the end castings. Now I have something to honor him with. The project actually started as a joint effort between Jim Hayes and myself, but now it has a stronger meaning. It kind of hit me today, hearing this bad news. Greg you will be sorely missed in all of our hearts and modeling circles. May God bless you on your journey to Train Heaven. Rich Christie

Hi List Members,
In the image below, I can see two boxcars. I’m trying to make out the owning road for the one closest to the camers, but I’m not successful so far. Perhaps others on the list will look at this and will know right away...
I see 5-5-5 ends, possibly Murphy style, or perhaps inverse Murphy (is that a term?). It also looks to have two doors on the side I that can see, making it an automobile boxcar. Does that ring a bell for anyone?
Use the “Download” button to get a higher-resolution image, this will help.

Very sad indeed. But if you were aware of Greg's medical history you knew he'd have a very hard time if he contracted the virus. When this all started a medical commentator said that when COVID-19 has run its course, everyone will know someone who dies from it. Not know OF someone - actually KNOW someone. It's disheartening that Greg's death checks that box for so many of us. I will remember his friendship, encouragement and willingness to share and teach. He was possessed of a great physical presence, and I'll always picture him running the Prototype Rails door prize raffle, commanding the room and demanding our attention with his big, booming voice. A true loss which diminishes us all.
