And I'd like to add Stan Rydarowicz as an emerging resin kit makerI'd like to ask a question about Stan's Illinois Central reefers. I tried to search the archives, but "IC" and "Reefer" get you every entry with "ice" and few folks actually spell out Illinois Central ;^) I picked up two IC kits, the series 50000-50229 and 50300-50499. Stan indicated that these were built in 1938 and 1941 respectively. My ORER indicates 229 and 200 cars respectively, reporting marks "IC". Can anyone provide more information, and perhaps an indication of where I might find some photos? The directions with the kits have no prototype information and little to none on what accessories these cars had. I'd also love to know what color to paint them ("yellow"?) and if there are any decals currently available (Stan indicated that Jim Singer might be releasing some). BTW, these kits are resin sides and ends or just resin sides (depending on the car) that fit an IM reefer "core" and are available with or w/o fans (I went w/o) Regards Bruce Bruce F. Stan has kits for PFE, IC, FGE/WFE/BRE, and NP reefers, as well as some kitbash kits. And many detail parts too. Who knows, maybe someday we'll get Gene Fusco to do a HO steam era car. That would be a game changer. (Gene's castings, and his kits, are incredibly good.) Tim O'Connor

I would like to thank Gary & Denis and Jon Cagle for expanding the offerings available to those of us who enjoy building models in 1/87. Martin, Al, Steve, and Ted were/are never going to be able to do everything we all want, given the diversity of railroads we love and the lack of standard car building practices. My hat is off to all of them for being willing to do business in such a niche area where I am sure much of it is a labor of love.

By Sunday all of us seemed exhausted, I cannot imagine how tired Al and Patricia felt! I hope they find the pace more enjoyable in the future. I also wanted to thank the transition era modeling community for being so enthusiastic about our new freight car project (the ACF 70-ton welded Gondola). After years of attending Naperville meets as a modeler and manufacturer, it was great to see such enthusiasm come from many attendees, even those who find our product just a year or two too late for their wartime interests. Thank you all for your support; as a new, niche styrene manufacturer we admit needing high sales volumes to get to our next model and we approach our model design and execution as a labor of love. Finally, congrats to all of the other manufacturers with new items as well. I personally enjoyed the new Wright Trak models especially the M53, Mr. Cagle's new tank car offerings, and the new NP reefers from Sunshine. Thank you again for your support. ....I found he was on top of things and not planning on fiddling with the basic things about the Naperville meet that made it so successful.... but willing to tweak details and add to it to insure that we (and more of us) will enjoy it in 2010 and beyond. I was very encouraged in talking to Joe as were a number of others who I compared notes with that had conversations with him. As a first-time speaker, special thanks to Martin and his family and to the people that kindly attended my talk! Charlie Vlk

Tony,The G-70-16 is certainly similar, but it has a different end (look at the topmost and bottom ribs), including a wheeled hand brake, and lacks the little tie-down loops on the top chord of the sides. It's also a fixed-end car, thus lacking the heavy corner posts of the drop-end cars, and doesn't have the tall end sill of the G-70-8 and -12 cars. The Tangent model could certainly stand in for a G-70-16 but to my eye would be significantly different. It is my understanding that the gentleman who has hosted the Western Prototype Meet has stepped forward and will organize next years event. Hopefully we'll many more years of fun in Naperville.
