I'm really sorry to hear this. Greg worked so hard on Prototype Rails in Cocoa Beach, really made Shake 'n' Take happen, and inspired many to explore what could be done with the standard kits we all start with. And he was a great guy personally. My deepest condolences to Sandy and the family. A huge loss to us all.

Folks,

Sadly, I have just learned that Greg Martin passed away today from complications of COVID-19. He was one of the great ones, and taught so many of us so much.

Sinclair took over Producers and Refiners, also known as Parco. The Wyoming town where Parco had its refinery was named Parco, and was renamed Sinclair.

Hi List Members,

There is a nice scene showing a bulk oil dealership in 1924. Very model-genic.

Oh yes, there is also a steam era freight car for us to enjoy as well – tank car PARX 848

Claus,

What a great image!  It almost makes me want to model 1924...

It looks like a GATC type 17 radial course tank car. And those tank trucks!

I see 5-5-5 ends, possibly Murphy style, or perhaps inverse Murphy (is that a term?). It also looks to have two doors on the side I that can see, making it an automobile boxcar. Does that ring a bell for anyone?

MP is stenciled on the end of the car and I can see a bit of Missouri Pacific on the car side.

Hi List Members,

There was some interest in boiler loads on flat cars recently. The image linked below shows more of this...

If you click on the “Download” button, an image with very nice level of detail can be seen.

I especially love that the load is secured by what looks to me like mostly twisted wire! I could certainly think of some ways to model this!

Nice variety of cars, Fenton. I’m glad to see somebody else is building passenger cars. I posted a question on the passenger car group this morning asking about hand brakes on CB&Q heavyweight baggage, RPO, and dining cars. I only have photos of one end of all the cars I’m building and no scale drawings, so I don’t know if hand brakes were on one or both ends, and if only one end, which end?  The hand brakes in photos I have are the old long curved handle ratchet, pawl, and chain type. Perhaps you or someone in this group has an answer.
