Group, Don't want to get too far off topic. I have a burning question though about this Conoco paint scheme. Champ made a decal set. I have not found any evidence of this scheme. Disregard the model's

No problem. Did you actually find that kit? I had all 4 of those early kits. The resin was really bad. The way he cast roofs makes the roof trash fodder! I gave up on mine when SnT 2014 rolled around

Jim, Stan Rydarowicz made kit-conversions of this style, using an Intermountain R-40-23 as a core. As you probably well know Stan passed away several years ago and no one that I know of has his origin

Southern LC "Boxcar" With Vent?
Garth, Those were converted in the 60s for Kaolin clay service. Most of these cars had vents on the ends right below the roof. There were two series' of these particular cars 34000-34124 and 34200-342

Kind of interesting CB&Q boxcar.
There are a few other railroads that had these also, Santa Fe and New York Central to name a couple. Ted Culotta has an excellent kitbashing article in: http://speedwitchmedia.com/product/prototype-ra

What Are These?
Tim, I never seen marker brackets that low on the ends before, although to me it makes better sense when climbing the grabs and attaching them. They generally are in the middle quadrant on the ends. R
