Model Realistic Freight Car Loads, by Keith Kohlmann
A nit -- My Uncle bought a "1964" Mustang and I recall seeing contemporary photos (in magazines) of the "1964" Mustang. I guess they just called them that because it was 1964. :-D Anyway, it was the C

Hmm. Kalmbach could have applied a little more proof reading scrutiny... :-D Unless you have no other materials or just have money to burn, from what I see I think there are much better modeling artic

GATC 1948 design numbers
The OMI model does represent a specific group of 8k GATC tank cars, and if you remove the model's dome handrails, I think you'd have a close match for the Celanese car. Now who makes Celanese tank car

GATC 1948 design numbers
They were not built in huge numbers as far as I know. GATC also built riveted tank cars of the same size at the same time -- Those were imported in HO scale brass by Drake, and I think there was an HO

Photo: Re-Icing Eight Hatch Reefers
The Athearn model is strictly a Santa Fe (SFRD) prototype. FOBX may be the best reporting mark for a foobie yet ! :-) Ten hatches on this one.

The near flat car looks interesting. Could it be a PRR car? The lower edge of the fishbelly side has a reinforcement (?). It seems to have 15 or 16 stake pockets, so probably a 53'6" deck.

Athearn Blue Box Upgrades
For the grandkids, Horizon (Athearn/Roundhouse) has re-tooled many older cars including for example the old C&O 3 bay open hoppers which now come with wire grab irons installed at the factory. Super-d

I also see CONX reporting marks. And there are many automobiles in the photo. Perhaps some can be dated ?

Accurail single sheathed box cars (was CNJ 12000 series)
Here's an interesting use for the Accurail 8 panel car - New England Rail Service offered a 1 1/2 door kit for converting the Accurail car into this car, I think.

CNJ had USRA single sheathed box cars, which is not the CN clone from Accurail, or the IC car either as far as I know. Which Accurail single sheathed box car have you got ?

Freight car ID
The lettering on the 1 1/2 door box car looks like it could be Chesapeake & Ohio, which did have 1 1/2 door steel box cars. The "tilted herald" on further examination appears to be CIRCULAR, and this

ATSF reefer colors
Pre-2020 Massachusetts had an energy program to switch to LEDs (for example, all outdoor street lights in my town are now LED) and I got overhead 'tube' fixtures to replace fluorescents for $15 a set.
