Well, thanks, Ben, I appreciate that help. The linked photo is exactly the car in question. I bought two of the Champ sets (there are two cars to do) and I expect that will get me pretty close to accu

Of course I am if you look at it that way. What I was looking for and have received is a couple or useful responses from people with some direct knowledge of D&RGW equipment who contacted me off list,

Rio Grande decals - assistance please
I need some help finding the appropriate decals for a car I’m doing for a friend. I am not a D&RGW modeler. I would appreciate assistance in finding the best decals for the job. Thanks Schuyler Larrab

Ho scale barbed wire along ROW
Yeah, got that, but the “Click to start” suggests that there’s a video or something. You can get to the “Products” without the “Click to start.” So I’m wondering what the video might show us. Schuyler

Can someone id this model?
Another possible series is ERIE 97400-97499..The attached photo isn’t included in that range. Again, the diagram’s roof looks nothing like a rectangular panel roof. Most ERIE end door cars were 50’. W

Well, not a BAD guess, Rich, close but no cigar, so far anyway I have a diagram of ERIE 97250-97399, a 40 tone double door box with end doors, but the roof drawing doesn’t look like a rectangular pane

is this a top chord reinforcement
Yes, reinforcement, and I’d venture that the car’s already got a sag in it, and the reinforcement is intended to not let that get worse! Schuyler

In the ERIE sequence there are quite a few cars that were built in the early times (20s or so) and in the 30s and 40s, even into the 50s. The collection covers a long range. Schuyler

RDG 12343 -- not what I expected
Well, this IS a double sheathed car, and I would surmise that if you removed the exterior sheathing, you’d see the bolts holding the framing for the slope sheets there in the interior sheathing . . .

Of course, we are likely all aware of what happened when the ERIE got that large class of Russian Decapods. The gauge problem, narrowing the engines from 5’ gauge to American Standard, a mere 3½” diff

I agree with you Todd, and while I did not grow up around here, at least not as an adolescent (the last ten years have been an adventure in growing up . . . ) this photo does have a tinge of the look
