Tim, Tony is modestly talking about PACIFIC FRUIT EXPRESS by Thompson, Church and Jones from Signature Press. Maybe he's being modest in not tooting his own whistle. Yours Aye, Garth Groff 🏴

Roger, Is that a Duryea underframe? Note that the re-stenciled weight data is in a different type style from the original. A neat detail. Yours Aye, Garth Groff 🏴

The curious case of NP box car colors in the 50's
Friends, Something nobody has mentioned is that in the early years of the 20th century, some railroads were still buying dry pigment (probably in barrels) and mixing their own paint with linseed oil.

T&P RC box
Tony, I am assuming you are talking about a 10' IH, 40' boxcar with W-corner ends that RC is so well known for? If so, go here and you will find that the T&P had four lots of these cars: http://www.st

Richard, I just looked at another view of this car in my collection, and water capacity is given as 6,960 gallons. Why the difference I don't know, but I throws the figures I gave you into chaos. 😆 Yo

Richard, An interesting question, and certainly and obscure area of study. So let me give you a case to chew on. The WP owned 60 AC&F high-walkway oil tanks of 10,000 gallon capacity, with a 40 gallon

Bob, AFAIK, the WP only applied enameled medallions to their 50' single-sheathed boxcars, wooden cabooses, and some cranes and plows. Just about all their other freight equipment had painted heralds.

Seth, Yes, these are definitely the PS1s that were later marked DODX. When this happened, I don't know. My 1958 ORER still has these cars listed under USNX. A very interesting photo. Thank you. Yours

Scott, These were Pullman-built, circa 1952 or so, and were 10' IH, likely the only 50' low-height PS-1s ever built. Many were used for ammunition (as in aircraft bombs) transport from the Navy weapon

Brent, Actually there is something that can be done with the Athearn car. It is a fair representation of CGTX 55201-55399 used to carry chlorine, as shown in the 1953 CAR BUILDER'S CYCLOPEDIA. No less
