Andrews trucks was correct trucks on CB&Q SM-18 stock cars (?)
My experience with re-springing several 1:48 X-10-X steam locos is that it takes about 8 pounds of weight to compress 10 .015" wire diameter springs so the the engine weight will "float" on the spring

Removable loads in freight cars - stupid question
Forgot to point out that the strips have to be placed laterally to the load. I uploaded photos to my website. The modeling is 2-rail O scale. See: www.rodmiller.com/images/GS_gon_load1.jpg www.rodmill

Square Wire for Vertical Brake Staffs
When building several SP flat cars, I noticed the brake staff was square. I presume that was to allow vertical movement of the staff, e.g., lowered to below the deck surface, but retain effectiveness

THINNER FOR FLOQUIL SOLVENT BASED PAINTS
It is rumored that the big box lacquer thinners are cut with water. For painting I buy lacquer thinner from auto paint supply stores. For clean up I use the big box thinner.

"Freight Train (1954)"
Interesting to note some PFE reefers around 10:19. Somehow I got the idea that the AT&SF avoided PFE cars and the PFE partners avoided AT&SF cars.
