IM ART Reefer

Having defended IM somewhat in my role as administrator of this august
group. I now...in my more favored [ by far ] role as greedy consumer of more
and more...ask Marty and IM when and if they might put the Mopac and Wabash
emblems on their ART R-40-10 as shown on pg 51 of RPC 2. Yes, I'm aware that
there are slight differences between the PFE and ART cars. And, I would ask
that they not be stealth this time. I have managed to find only one ART in
the early scheme.

Tim O'Connor...perhaps lobbying once again for the position of group RPA...
writes that I, referring to the R-40-10, said:

Well, of course, bad behavior and I have not always been on separate paths
in my life...I do sorta like the SP, for instance, but to quote Charlie
Duckworth in RPC 2,

"ART took delivery of their first steel refrigerator cars, an almost direct
copy of the PFE's class R-40-10..." and "The ART 22979-23999 series was
almost a mirror image of the PFE design with the exception of the types of
door hinges used and some rivet locations being changed on the steel panels
adjacent to the carbody doors". Charlie goes on to show how the hinge
problem can be fixed...if, that is, they aren't at some time in the future.

Mike, Mike, Mike... (borrowing a time honored rhetorical technique
that enjoys great popularity with model RR experts)... I think our
friends at Intermountain go by the motto "The Difference Is In The
Details" or some such phrase.

To which I reply, "Exactly."

As Andy Carlson rightly pointed out, if you're going to belly up to
the bar with mighty marketing mottoes, you ought to be able to live
up to them.

Tim,
I think you need a difference reference, I've hardly heard anything
accurate with persons who "belly up to the bar"<VBG>. Of course it might
also depend on how long they have been there!

There are very few examples of anyone that does live up to their marketing
motto. Remember Circuit City's "Service is state of the art"? I called
their service once, got put on hold for 35 minutes. Now THAT is hi-tech!
