Danbury Ry Museum Needs Info on a PRR Caboose
Jeff English
No, I won't call it a cabin, but I'll forward this to the STMFC so they
can comment on it. Please, folks send your replies directly to Ron at <lbhf1@...> --------------------------------------------------------------- Jeff English Troy, New York Proto:64 Classic Era Railroad Modeling englij@... | R U T L A N D R A I L R O A D | Route of the Whippet --------------------------------------------------------------- |

Interesting. I sent one message with an attachment (which I failed
to consider is probably a no-no with Yahoo), and lo and behold it shows up as <two> messages on STMFC. Well, I guess you guys are mostly clever enough to figure that out, but just in case somebody out there didn't put two and two together, there you are. --------------------------------------------------------------- Jeff English Troy, New York Proto:64 Classic Era Railroad Modeling englij@... | R U T L A N D R A I L R O A D | Route of the Whippet --------------------------------------------------------------- |

Both your mails concerning the ND cabin that the Danbury Railway Museum recently acquired came through and I have contacted Ron regarding the cabin car. Hopefully, I can be of some assistance to them regarding this car as I was one of the contributors to the articles that Bob Johnson and Gary Rau ran back in the middle 70's on PRR cabin cars. I will get in contact with Bob and Gary and perhaps the three of us can come up with some of the information that he needs. In 1996, working with John Christy, I was able to furnish a lettering guide for their PRR X58A class 50' insulated plug door box car which they finished restoring the following year. By the way, do you know anyone who would like to have a copy of an NYC passenger car diagram book? When I was working in Passenger Operations in Penn Center, Richard Decker, who was one of our car distributors, allowed me to make a copy of his equipment diagram book. It is quite thick with approximately three diagrams per page on 8-1/2"x14" paper and has a roster in the front. If you know anyone that may be interested, have them contact me and something can be worked out. Hi Tom
Regarding the NYC diagrams we have the Pullman Dover Straits at the Illinois Railway Museum and perhaps that might be in the book since it was assigned by Pullman to the NYC. If that is the case perhaps we could reimburse you for copy of that info since we are always trying to add any relevant info to the car file and history. For the Danbuty caboose, we also have a bobber it IRM and if it would be any help as you guys rebuild it, and are in our area, I would be happy to make it available for any photos, measurements, etc that would be of value to you. It is not yet fully restored but somewhat better than your 'flatcar' so may be of use as a refernece. You can contact me at my e mail or snail mail to Illinois Railway Museum, Box 427, Union IL 60180. Bob Kutella |

Tom;
Allen Stanley at raildata@... (Allen Stanley) might be interested in a copy of the diagram book. He runs the Raildata exchange and trades copies of diagram books. I'm sure he would appreciate a contact from you about the book. Regards, Art Richardson Clinton, MS |

You can always tell when it is getting late. I crossed your email address up with my reply to Bob Kutella's email on the SFMC email/ I will drop Allen an email about the roster and line drawings. This is an old diagram book which was originally issued in the early '40's and updated periodically by the late Dick Decker who I was fortunate to obtain a copy from. This was one of the small perks that I was lucky to get when I was working as a Supervisor (later Manager) Passenger Train Movement in PC and CR system operations in Phila in the period 1972-1986. I believe that the period if time that I spent in that office was the greatest period of my career as a professional railroader and was a great help to my modeling hobby. Thanks for the heads-up on Allen's Raildata Exchange. Sincerely, Tom Olsen 7 Boundary Road, West Branch Newark, Delaware, 19711-7479 Ph: 302-738-4292 tmolsen@... artrich999@... wrote:
