Garrett Rea asked:
Ben, anyone make this roof in HO? [DT&I USRA DS Rebuild] Not that I know of. Sunshine didn't get around to this one when they did their series of USRA DS rebuilds, and this roof appears to be unique to the DT&I rebuilds. I'm on the lookout for a good roof shot so I can figure out how to scratchbuild this thing. Ben Hom |

The main page http://dti.railfan.net/ has a pic of the car and
alludes to roof shots (I didn't have time to look for them). Jerry Glow --- In STMFC@..., "Garrett W. The photos are of a retired car and are on this page: http://dti.railfan.net/Equipment_Database/DTI11000sUSRA40'dsBox/ArtDTI 11500s.html Kind of looks like a Climax roof with extra ribs and panels. It looks like a straightforward scratchbuilding project using the techniques from Hundman's ATSF Class Bx-9 project from the August 1999 Mainline Modeler. Ben Hom |

This is the same roof that was on the C&O and NKP '32 ARA cars. The seam caps are quite "tall" compared to those on other radial roofs. Regards, Ted Culotta |
