In defense of Kadee
I will say that Kadee talked to both Ed Hawkins and me about getting the
color right on their RI PS-2's. So, they are trying. The most recent RI
PS-1, which is their third number in this paint scheme (which covered 2000
prototype cars) now has the correct black rood and boxcar red ends per Ed's
message from the other day.
(Note, some of the RI series had US Gypsum expanded metal running boards,
which Kadee has not (at least so far) chosen to do.)

Aside from the lack of a black roof, are you happy with the paint COLOR
on the earliest of the Kadee RI car releases in this scheme? I have
seen photos that make them appear more red, and was wondering.

In short, no, I thought the cars were, "too brown" and said so in my review in the RI Technical Society newsletter. I think Kadee has improved in this area as time has gone on. I decided to repaint the roof on my original car black, which helped the overall appearance, in my eyes, anyway.
