Augie Hiscano

This morning I must be the bearer of sad news. Augie Hiscano passed away unexpectedly at his home this last Thursday. Those that have attended Prototype Rails at Cocoa Beach might have attended the various miniature machining and milling clinics that Augie presented there. He was a master modeler in the field of automobile modeling...building everything from scratch including the engine...and ran the train dept. at Orange Blossom Hobbies in Miami for about 35 yrs.

I knew Augie for over 30 yrs and can say that he always exuded a positive and upbeat attitude and was extremely supportive of Prototype Rails. To say that he will be missed is a gross understatement.

I am shocked and saddened to hear of Augie's passing. We met as kids
back in the late '60s racing slot cars on rival teams. I
occasionally saw him in subsequent years at Orange Blossom Hobbies
in Miami where there were a lot of models in the display cases (the
place was a former bowling alley so there were plenty!) that he had
painted and/or detailed. I saw and renewed acquaintances at a
Prototype Rails meet where Augie was a presenter as Mike mentioned.
He will be missed by the hobby as well as family.

This is indeed a sad loss. Augie and I go back to 1970 when SCL
transferred me to Miami. Orange Blossom became the center of my
universe. I worked Saturdays at "OB" for the 4 years I was in Miami.
I got to see Augie as not only a great modeler but as an excellent
businessman and manager.

This is a loss to his family, the hobby, and the community.
