In the late 1940s or early 1950s, did Kendall Refining still have its
own tank cars or did it lease cars? If so, what types of cars did
they have/use and what would the paint scheme(s) have been?

The 1/43 ORER shows 23 KRTX tanks of four different gallonages. The
1/53 ORER shows *no* Kendall Refining cars, whic suggests they went to
leasing between those dates.

I can narrow that down a bit. Kendall was still listed in the 1/45
ORER but not in the 7/47 ORER.

I'll offer another narrowing down -- the reporting marks were listed in the back of the January 1946 ORER, but with a note that no cars bearing these reporting marks were listed in this issue.

information about the 23 KRTX tank cars listed in the January 1945
ORER?

In an earlier post (several years back; I checked the Archives
before I sent my post. ;-)), Richard Hendrickson mentioned that
Kendall had used Type "X" tank cars in the past. Are any of the
1945 cars of that type?

Finally, if Kendall had gone to strictly leasing tank cars by
January 1946 (as opposed to ownership), is there a source for that
information?

As usual with tank cars, the ORER entries aren't very informative. All
were class TM. KRTX 28 was 5,280 gals, 30 tons; KRTX 30 was 5,810 and
30 tons; 33 to 36; 39, 40, and 42; 45 to 49; 51, 53, 56, 58, 63, and 64
were all 8K gals., 40 tons; and 204, 205 and 213 were 10K gals., 50

I did? I don't recall writing that. I do have builder's photos of
KRTX 53, an 8K gal. AC&F Type 11, and krtx 209, a 10K gal.
three course AC&F Type 21, but those don't, of course, show Kendall's
1940s paint and lettering.
